Blended Learning

Blended learning is traditionally integrating eLearning methodologies, such as online delivery, discussion boards and email, with instructor led methods including formal lectures, in-person discussions, seminars, or tutorials.

KBR Training Solutions extends the traditional parameters of blended learning to include virtual online classrooms, gamification, self-paced print-based training, social learning, community of practice and other forms of informal training. KBR TS also recognises that within the contemporary business context an effective learning solution needs to include processes and technologies that can be effective, not just within learning, but also within knowledge management and performance support domains.

The key considerations for determining the optimum blend includes assessment of the following factors:

  • What is the best instructional model and delivery method for the content?
  • What is the best method for the target audience?
  • What is the best method to meet organisational constraints and requirements?

Performance Support

Increasingly, the importance of providing easy, 'just in time' and 'just enough' support to workers to help them to do their work is being realised. Performance support complements an organisation's learning approach. It is not just single-event training but supports each worker when a need arises, through business-as-usual. The most effective performance support is embedded in the workflow.

Gamification

The major challenges for instructional designers and trainers who are designing and delivering training in a corporate environment are keeping the learners engaged and influencing or changing their behaviour. Games and the gamification of learning are seen as fresh approaches in a range of training strategies to help make the learning more engaging.
